Spartan Race for Shooting Star!

CloudShift takes on the Spartan Race for Shooting Star!

Friday evening saw CloudShift and Salesforce team up once again, this time to take on the Spartan Race in aid of Shooting Star Children’s Hospice! It was an evening full of running, jumping, swinging, crawling, climbing, a few drinks and a lot of inspiration. All of which amounted to a fairly exhausted team but a lot of money raised for an amazing cause.

For the very first time, the gruelling Spartan Race was held under the lights of Twickenham Stadium. Runners were treated to a motivational warm-up in the home teams dressing room before heading down the tunnel and embarking on a 20-obstacle 5km run around the home of English rugby. With an autumn fog rolling in over the roof of the stadium the mood was set for an atmospheric evening.

Over the course of the next hour, runners were tasked with climbing 20ft ropes, scaling cargo nets, leaping over fire and traversing the many, many steps of Twickenham stadium, even occasionally carrying with them 20kg bags of sand! But with some grit, determination and a lot of teamwork all 16 CloudShift and Salesforce runners made it over the finish line in under an hour, which if you ask us is a pretty great achievement!

Of course, what made all the running lifting and climbing worthwhile was helping to raise money for Shooting Star Children’s Hospice! The charity specialises in caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions. They are only 10% government-funded and rely heavily on donations to continue to provide the care and support that is so needed for affected families. After the race all our runners, now officially crowned Spartans, were given the chance to listen to a panel discussion with founder and CEO of Spartan Race, Joe De Cena, Ex-royal marine and Invictus games winner Paul Vice and fitness model Shaun Stafford. The discussion focused on achieving goals and overcoming extreme obstacles, both physically and mentally. It was a truly motivational and inspirational end to a terrific evening.

A huge thank you to all our runners, Salesforce and Shooting Star Children’s Hospice. Don’t forget to visit our fundraising page and support all the great things they’re doing!
