5 Sustainability Initiatives we’re Supporting this Earth Day

In honour of Earth Day today, we’re taking a look at 5 sustainable initiatives which challenge us to act boldly, innovate broadly, and implement equitably. In partnership with our Globant family and our friends at Salesforce, we are proud to help #InvestInOurPlanet.

  1. Sustainability, the newest Salesforce Core Value
It was announced recently that Salesforce has added Sustainability to their core values – Trust, Customer Success, Innovation, Equality, and Sustainability – affirming their commitment to taking action against climate change. As a net-zero company, Salesforce echoed these feelings at the recent COP26 summit where they sponsored the conference, laid out their initiatives and announced a $300 million investment to accelerate ecosystem restoration and climate justice. Also launching their #TeamEarth initiative, Salesforce encourages businesses to follow their lead in engaging in planet Earth and turn values into action. Starting with a focus on creating a sustainable future, Salesforce is a founding member of 1t.org where they have pledged to conserve, restore and grow 100 million trees by 2030.

  2. Net Zero Cloud
Salesforce is known for providing systems that meet business needs and the introduction of Net Zero Cloud is no different. This cloud enables organisations to quantify their carbon footprint across Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, creating a single source of truth to empower data-driven decisions. It also helps identify and prioritise the highest value energy saving opportunities which allows businesses to take action in becoming more sustainable. Offering Carbon Footprint Forecast, Science-Based Targets, Supplier Management & Waste Data Management, organisations can get sustainability insights with the addition of powerful Tableau CRM dashboards to achieve their climate goals.

  3. BeKind to the Planet
As part of the Globant family, we share their BeKind commitment and their Be Kind to the Planet is specifically relevant to our sustainable development and helping organisations transition to a low-carbon economy. Setting out their decarbonisation strategy Globant’s Net-Zero Roadmap started in 2020 when they moved to 100% renewable energy and continue to follow their sustainable ESG commitments of carbon neutrality in line with the Science-Based Targets and supporting clients with “Digital Sobriety” techniques to save 10 million tons of Co2-eq by 2030. Beyond the Race to Zero initiative, Globant also support projects to restore our Earth including through carbon offsetting and renewable sources, all as part of their carbon neutrality pledge.

  4. Globant & The Green Software Foundation
As a steering member of the Green Software Foundation, Globant are aligned with their vision of changing the culture surrounding software building across the tech industry, so sustainability becomes a core priority to software teams, just as important as performance, security, cost and accessibility. Focused on reduction rather than neutralisation the foundation works with those in the business of building software to help them reduce the emissions they are responsible for.

  5. Sustainable Business Studio
Organisations have for a long time approached sustainability with a harm avoidance practice, however, in the new green economy, Globant helps businesses take on a new approach through their Sustainable Business Studio. Providing the know-how and tools needed to build a climate roadmap, Globant supports organisations and stakeholders diagnose and produce reports on environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG), and climate due diligence, implement solutions to reduce their emissions and foster necessary cultural changes towards sustainability.
This was a message they too shared at COP26, not only stating the efforts and contribution but the crucial role technology plays in accelerating sustainability and tackling climate change. Globant’s £65m investment in expanding in the UK and creating a Sustainability Hub is a clear indicator of the commitment they have to supporting organisations follow their lead.
