The CloudShift team Volunteers at Shooting Star Children's Hospice.
At CloudShift it is important to us to give back when we can as part of our commitment to Pledge 1% and the Be Kind ethos we uphold as a division of Globant. This week some of our team went down to the Shooting Star Children’s Hospice in Hampton to lend a hand in upkeeping the grounds ready for them to welcome more children and their families.
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices is a charity we have been supporting for several years, and they are a very worthwhile charity that provides support for children with life-limiting conditions and their families. Their Hampton hospice was partially closed during the pandemic and they are now looking forward to welcoming back more families that rely on the support and care they provide. It was great to get the opportunity to visit one of the locations our ongoing fundraising helps support and see at first hand the great facilities they have there for guests.
With various jobs to tackle around the site, our Shifties stepped away from their computers and picked up shovels, jet washes and hedge trimmers and got to work. Lead by the groundsman Damien, some of our team got stuck in straight away with jet washing the courtyard area, a very stratifying but mucky job. Meanwhile, the rest of the team did a superb job trimming the hedges around the perimeter and tidying up the flowerbeds of overgrown shrubs until they were totally transformed.
We’d like to extend a special thank you to Alex Rennie from Shooting Star Children’s Hospices for welcoming us down, looking after us and keeping us going with endless cups of tea!
